There’s something about the Amalfi Coast that hardly looks real — pastel villages tumbling down dramatic cliffs, tiny beaches tucked beneath them, bougainvillea spilling over stone walls and that ridiculously blue Mediterranean water.

If an Italian summer is sitting somewhere on your dream-travel list, this 4-day Amalfi Coast itinerary brings together four of its most beautiful stops: Positano, Capri, Ravello and Amalfi + Atrani.

And because planning the outfits is half the fun, I’ve added an Amalfi Coast packing edit too – from floaty dresses and linen layers to the little travel essentials actually worth squeezing into your suitcase. ♡

THE 4-DAY AMALFI LOOP ♡

DAY 1 – POSITANOCliffside streets • Spiaggia Grande • sunset views

DAY 2 – CAPRIBoat day • Faraglioni • hidden coves

DAY 3 – RAVELLOVilla gardens • Terrace of Infinity • slow afternoon

DAY 4 – AMALFI + ATRANICathedral • tiny streets • waterfront aperitivo

DAY 1 ♡ THE POSITANO POSTCARD

Start with the place that probably made you save the Amalfi Coast to Pinterest in the first place.

Positano is made for wandering slowly. Colourful houses tumble towards the sea while narrow streets and stairways wind between little boutiques, cafés and glimpses of the coastline.

Spend the morning exploring before making your way towards Spiaggia Grande, Positano’s famous main beach. This is the day for doing very little in the best possible way: a long lunch, something cold to drink, a few hours beside the water and nowhere you particularly need to be. ♡

WHERE TO STAY IN POSITANO ♡

Want to wake up to one of those ridiculous Positano cliffside views? Look for a stay with a sea-facing terrace or balcony — especially if you’re planning a slower morning before heading down towards the beach.

THE POSITANO DAYTIME LOOK ♡

Positano calls for something effortless: an oversized white linen shirt over a simple swimsuit, tortoiseshell sunglasses, comfortable sandals and a woven beach bag. Easy enough for wandering the steep streets, but still very Italian-summer-on-Pinterest. 🍋

DAY 2 ♡ CAPRI BY BOAT

Day two belongs to the sea.

Head towards Capri for the kind of boat day that probably already exists somewhere on your Pinterest board — brilliant blue water, dramatic rock formations, tiny coves and plenty of time for swimming.

One of Capri’s most recognisable sights is the Faraglioni, the enormous rock formations rising from the sea just off the island. For a slower day, look for a small-group boat trip or private charter that gives you time to actually enjoy the coastline rather than rushing from stop to stop. ♡

THE CAPRI BOAT-DAY LOOK ♡

This is where the pretty dress gets its moment. Think a lightweight blue or floral maxi dress thrown over swimwear, flat sandals, delicate jewellery and a little woven bag – effortless, breezy and ridiculously pretty against all that Mediterranean blue.

DAY 3 ♡ THE GARDENS OF RAVELLO

After two days beside the water, go upwards.

Ravello sits high above the Amalfi Coast and feels completely different from the busy beach towns below. Spend the morning wandering through the historic centre before visiting Villa Cimbrone and its gardens.

The famous Terrace of Infinity looks out over an enormous sweep of Mediterranean blue and is one of those views that deserves considerably more than a five-minute photo stop.

Take your time here. Find somewhere lovely for lunch, order a lemon gelato afterwards and give yourself an afternoon without an enormous checklist. ♡

THE RAVELLO GARDEN LOOK ♡

A soft, floaty midi dress feels made for this part of the trip – but comfortable shoes are non-negotiable. Pair it with flat strappy sandals, delicate gold jewellery and a small woven bag for something pretty enough for lunch but practical enough for Ravello’s old stone streets.

DAY 4 ♡ AMALFI + ATRANI

For your final day, slow things down with two beautiful neighbours: Amalfi and tiny Atrani.

Start in Amalfi, wandering through the historic centre and stopping to see the striking Duomo di Amalfi before disappearing into the little lanes behind the main square. Grab something lemony, browse the shops and leave plenty of time for an unhurried lunch.

Later, make your way towards Atrani, the tiny coastal village tucked just around the headland. Its little piazza, beach and tightly packed houses give it a completely different feeling from glamorous Positano.

Finish your last evening beside the water with an aperitivo as the light starts to soften over the coast. The perfect ending to four ridiculously pretty days. ♡

THE LAST-DAY LOOK ♡

Keep the final-day outfit easy: a pretty linen sundress, comfortable flat sandals, oversized sunglasses and a woven shoulder bag. Add a light cardigan for later if you’re staying beside the water after sunset.

THE AMALFI COAST PACKING CHECKLIST ♡

Packing for the Amalfi Coast is all about pieces that can work twice. Think lightweight layers, comfortable shoes for all those steps, pretty dresses that take you from sightseeing to dinner, and a few beach-day essentials you’ll actually use. Here’s the edit I’d pack for four dreamy days on the coast. ♡

🤍 Oversized linen shirt For beach days, boat trips and throwing over swimwear.

👗 Two easy summer dresses One relaxed daytime dress and one slightly dressier option for sunset dinners.

👙 Swimsuit Choose one you can comfortably wear underneath a linen shirt or cover-up.

👡 Comfortable flat sandals Pretty is good. Pretty and capable of surviving Amalfi’s steps is considerably better. 😂

🕶️ Oversized sunglasses The easiest way to make basically any holiday outfit look finished.

👜 Woven beach bag Large enough for SPF, water, sunglasses and everything you somehow accumulate during the day.

👒 Packable sun hat Especially useful for long beach and boat days.

🧴 SPF + travel beauty essentials Keep the everyday products small so you’re not sacrificing half your suitcase to toiletries.
